WWFC Tribute

Everyone at Wycombe Wanderers was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of much-loved supporter Teresa Slevin last weekend, at the age of 70.
Teresa attended her first Wycombe game as a five-year-old with her dad, and remained a fan for life, becoming more heavily involved with the club after its promotion into the Football League, joining the committee of the Wycombe Wanderers Independent Supporters Club and helping with the running of coaches and pub stops on away days.

Always a wonderful supporter of the club in many ways, Teresa helped raise donations for the club through WWISC, and made personal contributions, in the way of player sponsorships.

She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last October and chemotherapy attempts ultimately proved unsuccessful. The club had the privilege of hosting her, her husband Jed and son Nick at Adams Park for one final time for the recent fixture against Blackburn Rovers, dedicating the 1-0 victory to a very special member of the Wycombe family.

WWISC’s support included the annual awarding of the Players’ Player of the Year prize – a trophy provided to the club by the supporters club – and club captain Matt Bloomfield paid tribute to Teresa in a short speech before naming Josh Knight as this year’s recipient of the title at today’s ceremony.

“She was an amazing woman. The best kind of supporter, and the loveliest of ladies. She loved this club; she believed in us, and she supported us at all times, through thick and thin. Every Saturday when I drove into the ground, she’d stop me and ask me how my girls are getting on. She was an incredible lady and she’ll be missed by everyone at Wycombe Wanderers.

“This is a special club because of people like Teresa. The people here make this an incredible place. And it’s an honour to present this award in her memory.”

Our thoughts are Teresa’s friends, family, and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed around Adams Park.
